?For small transfer jobs, it is acceptable to hold the funnel in such a way that it is not resting on the lip of the test tube or other narrow container (tight seal will prevent liquid from flowing)
Otherwise, It is best to suspend a funnel in a small ring attached to a ring stand in such a way that only the lower part of the stem is inserted into the narrow collecting container (e.g. test tube).
